It's Part Of Life

April 11, 2015

While observing a band of four Carter wild horses we noticed that one horse was not moving. Since Carters tend to blend with their environment and we were far away, we questioned that perhaps one horse might be a rock reflecting a Carter color. Getting closer we took photos, later determining it was a dead horse. Driving back out to the area we walked over to the horse. After a quick look we determined that neither coyotes nor mountain lions were involved. She appeared to be a medium, slightly thin two year old. We contacted BLM, they went out to see if they could determine the cause of death. Our conclusions matched: we may never know what caused her death.

We are reminded that death is a part of the cycle of life, the strong will replace the weak, and nature enforces her rules.
